W. S. Reier Trophy
In 1955, Mr. and Mrs. William S. Reier donated this silver pitcher as a perpetual trophy for competition in the M-16 fleet with the provision that it be sailed for in a regularly scheduled race on the third Saturday in August. William Reier was one of four sailors listed in the 1952 yearbook as members of what was called the Experimental Class, authorized in 1950 by the Inland Lake Yachting Association. By 1954, the class was called the M-16 in the yearbook, and Reier won the first season championship. The fleet became inactive by the end of the 1990s. In 2011, the club rededicated the Reier Trophy for use by the Melges 24 fleet to be awarded annually to the winner of a championship series race.
