Alfred Frederick “Bud” Gartz Jr. (1893 – 1944), who joined the Lake Geneva
Yacht Club in 1923 and served as Commodore in 1938 and 1939, raced his
Class A Scows Big Foot, Big Foot Too, and Chief Big Foot to many victories
in Inland Lake Yachting Association competition and on Geneva Lake. In
Big Foot, he won the ILYA Class A Championship title in 1931 and the
Sheridan Prize in 1935; in Big Foot Too, he won the ILYA Class A title in
1936, 1937, and 1939 and the Sheridan Prize in 1936, 1937, and 1938; in
Chief Big Foot, he won the Sheridan Prize in 1940 and 1942.
